With less than one week to go until the March 5 NHL trade deadline, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun has the latest on Ottawas Chris Phillips, Vancouvers Ryan Kesler, and the Rangers Ryan Callahan and offers some insight on their situations and potential trade status. What are the chances that Chris Phillips is still an Ottawa Senator after the trade deadline? Pierre LeBrun: Well theres still a chance, because the Senators are trying to sign him. They have already talked to him and they would like to do a one-year extension with him. If they get a yes on that extension, then he stays put, but if they cant get him signed it puts Ottawa in a tough spot because they are five points out - theyre not in a playoff spot right now. If the next couple of games dont go well, theyre even further apart from a playoff spot and I can tell you this, the Boston Bruins and Peter Chiarelli - who was formerly with the Ottawa Senators - knows Phillips and Boston would be all over him if hes put on the trade market by Ottawa. The next couple of games are huge in terms of his future and what the Senators do with him. Are there any new developments on the Ryan Kesler trade front? LeBrun: Kesler is the biggest name on the market right now. He didnt officially ask for a trade - I think thats true - but everyone knows that from both his side and the Canucks side, a change of scenery might be the best thing. I was told on Friday by a source, and this is now public, that the action has absolutely picked up and the phone is ringing off the hook in Vancouver. So many teams want to at least educate themselves about what it would cost to get in on the Ryan Kesler market. And again, the Canucks are telling everyone "we dont have to move him before Wednesday." If they dont get their price met (which is very high) then they can wait until June to possibly trade him. The Flyers, Blue Jackets, Red Wings - of course hes from Michigan - the list goes on as theres so much interest in Kesler. How does Dan Girardis six-year deal impact Ryan Callahan with the New York Rangers? LeBrun: I do feel in my heart of hearts that it has an impact and thats where it starts with Callahan. I have this gut feeling that he might soften on these contract demands and if he does, I think he can re-sign with the Rangers. And thats because this team is on a roll, hes the captain, and he and Girardi are close so look for that to maybe have an impact. But certainly if he doesnt soften on his contract demands then the Rangers are going to trade him. One small note on Girardi, by the way - his no-movement clause, which is in his new extension, starts right away. He doesnt have to wait until July 1 when his new deal kicks in. Justin Holiday Jersey . The 10-year deal the league and players agreed to that ended the 2011 lockout gave either side the right to opt out after six years. With the league projecting financial growth, there has been speculation that players will take that option in three years, especially since a new national TV contract will be in place by then. Custom Chicago Bulls Jerseys . The club was unable to retain hitting coach Kevin Seitzer, who is bound for Atlanta. Seitzer replaces Greg Walker, who was assisted by Scott Fletcher this season as the Braves finished 79-83. http://www.bullsofficialsshop.com/kids-cameron-payne-bulls-jersey/ .com) - Oregon wasnt going to let Arizona ruin its national title dreams for a second straight season. John Paxson Jersey . Roy says he will know more about Duchenes potential playing status Sunday. Duchene has been out since damaging the MCL in his left knee when he ran into a teammate against San Jose on March 29. Hes been skating on his own all week, before joining the team Saturday hours before a pivotal game in a series tied at 2. Jerian Grant Jersey .Kraft says Goodell realized before seeing a video showing Baltimore running back Ray Rice striking his then fiance that domestic violence was very serious for society in general.COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Almost none of the 14,070 fans on hand knew that Mark Letestu scored the game-winning goal for the Columbus Blue Jackets. That was OK with him. He was just happy his team came away with two points. Letestu redirected Jack Johnsons shot from the point with 2:38 left, lifting the Blue Jackets past the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 on Monday night. The goal was initially credited to James Wisniewski immediately after the game. Johnson, celebrating his 27th birthday, thought he had the winner until the goal was changed long after the teams had left the ice. Letestu said the crowd, that was so exuberant during the Blue Jackets rally in the second half of last season, had a hand in carrying the club. "It was especially loud coming down the stretch," said Letestu, who has four goals in five games after netting only one before then. "When we got that last power play, (the fans) could sense it, too, that we were close. Maybe they willed us on to score that one. "It was rockin out there." It was the Blue Jackets season-high fourth win in a row. There were plenty of others in the spotlight before Letestus winner. Nathan Horton scored his 200th NHL goal, also during a third-period power play, and Ryan Johansen scored for Columbus, which is 5-1 in the new year. Sergei Bobrovsky had 26 saves. "We showed some character coming back," said Horton, a free-agent signing from Boston last summer who missed the first 40 games for his new team while recovering from shoulder surgery. "Thats what we needed when we needed it most." Tampa Bay had been 17-1 when leading after two periods. The Blue Jackets had a man advantage for the sixth time after Tyler Johnson was called for hooking with 3:28 remaining. Just 50 seconds later, Wisniewski fed Johnson for a hard shot that Letestu deflected past Anders Lindback through heavy traffic in front. "They found a lane tthere," said Lindback, who had 25 saves.dddddddddddd Columbus, 2 for 6 with a man advantage, dominated the rest of the way. Wisniewski barely missed on an empty-net attempt with a minute left, and Matt Calvert and Brandon Dubinsky helped to keep the puck away from the hard-pressing Lightning. "We got our game back," coach Todd Richards said about the step up after a dismal second period. "To me, thats a sign of the character youre looking for from your group. Teams are going to make pushes, get some momentum in the game ... but I like the way we went after it in the third period." Alex Killorn and Victor Hedman had goals for Tampa Bay, and Lindback stopped 25 shots. "Ultimately, we had way too many penalties," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "It turned into a special-teams game, and their special teams were better than ours." Columbus tied it at 2 at 3:09 of the third when Horton wristed a rising shot from the top of the left circle just inside the far post. The power-play tally was his second goal for Columbus after notching 142 in six seasons with Florida and 56 in three years with the Bruins. Johnson didnt end up with the winner but did have two assists. "It felt nice to have a comeback win on the birthday," he said. "I can rest easy a little bit more tonight." NOTES: Columbus RW Cam Atkinson had a three-game goal streak end. C Boone Jenner had scored in two straight. ... Tampa Bay C Steven Stamkos missed his 29th game (broken right leg). The Lightning fell to 15-10-4 without him. ... The last time the teams met, the Blue Jackets won 1-0 when Bobrovsky stopped all 18 shots he faced before leaving with a strained groin that would sideline him for a month. ... The Lightning played the second of a three-game road trip that ends Tuesday at New York. The Blue Jackets opened a span in which they will play five of six at home.
